Facts about Anaheim

Found in northern Orange County, Anaheim is considered part of the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area. It's the most populous city in the county, with more than 346,000 residents as of the 2020 census. Anaheim is also the tenth largest city in California. 

The city's history traces back to 1857, with the arrival of fifty German families to the area. The community grew steadily, and by 1876. It was the second city to be incorporated in what was then Los Angeles County. When Orange County was formed in 1889, Anaheim was included in the new county limits. 

Agriculture was king for Anaheim well into the 20th century. That began to change in the 1950's, with manufacturing in electronics, aircraft parts, and food processing establishing in and around the city. Today, Anaheim is known as the home of Disneyland and two major sports teams: the ice hockey club Anaheim Ducks, and the Los Angeles Angels.
